Grat site. Wish I had found it a long time ago. Joined at 17 and ended up on the Ottawa as a stoker and spent the next 4.5 years in 8 mess. after 5 years, I mustered out due to being colour blind. Lived in St. Margaret's Bay after married to Rose Mary (yep, still married). We named our first son after CPO1 Trevor Davies, my favourite chief. I had opportunity to visit the Ottawa in Owen Sound on her final trip through the Great Lakes before de-commissioning. Was given a guided tour with my family. My son got to sit in the Old Man's seat on the bridge which he had sat in as a one year old. I was allowed to go into 8 mess and it was pretty emotional to stand in front of my bunk after all those years. Again, thanks for all your work on this site.
