Comments: I am desperately trying to find a list of the remaining survivors from the Athabaskan that was bombed on April 29, 1944. My great uncle was on that ship and the day it was torpedoed was his birthday. He was taken pow for over one year. I am the last chance of carrying on this mans legacy. Please advise me where to start my search. I want to talk to people who knew him. I want to share his life with my children. His family are all deceased. He never had children. Please Help!! Thank you so much

Comments: Greetings and Stand-easy...Thanks for a great site. I enjoy reading the comments and remembering names from my (occasionally) chequered past...I joined in 1967 (What are you doing for the Centennial?) as a Sparker and retired in '92 as Chief Sparker at Desron2 HQ in Victoria. I was different than most "radio ladies" as I had over 16 years of my time at Sea. Got to be POTel twice (a "do-over") and can't think of any days I regret- but plenty I miss!

Life is good in retirement and I still see many of my wingers on a regular basis. Thanks again for this site.

Cheers, Beers,

The St. Georges Gazette, the newsletter of the museum, reports that Maritime Command has authorized full size replicas of the 28 windows to be mounted over the present windows. You may ask how I know about the windows as the chapel did not exist during the war years - my wife and I visited the base in 1980 on the occasion of our 35th Anniversary and were quite impressed.

It is my hope to organize people by their basic training divisions. As I have had a very hard time to contact mates I knew in basic, I hope this approach will work. Hoping to hear from you shortly.

Sincerely,

Alfred A. Michon

Am looking for information, as to whatever happened to the HMCS Gatineau, the one that served in the North Atlantic, during WWII. I've read much about Her service during the war, and I thought She was sunk off of Vancouver Is. as a reef. Our father served on Her, and I don't have many more dives left. I'd like to find Her.

Any info/help/direction would be truely appreciated.
